The book was written in a Gothic time period and that showed in Shelley's work. The Gothic time period was a time of mysterious or violent incidents. This connects to Shelley's novel Frankenstein because the monster that was created by Victor was put out to be violent by killing William even though that was not his original intention. The Gothic era was also about the social values, the concern with good and evil, and questioning what is humane and inhumane. In the book Frankenstein the monster was intended to be humane, but was not because of how Victor created him, he was eight feet tall and had an unpleasant appearance, he was monstrous.
