Major Characters

Victor Frankenstein: Protagonist of the story; narrates most of the story.  Begins out as a man in search of knowledge and quickly finds out that knowledge does not always have the best interest.  Creates the most hideous monster from this he learns that you are responsible for your creations.

The Monster: The ugly monster created out of dead body parts by Victor Frankenstein.  Quickly learns how to speak and have his own thoughts, fascinated by life.  Although desperately in need of human interaction, everyone the monster approaches runs away in fear and disgust.  Hates Victor because of the treatment he is given.

Alphonse Frankenstein: Victor Frankenstein's father.  Very family orientated.

Elizabeth Lavenza: Orphan and Victors cousin, even though destined to be Victor's wife.  Elizabeth and Victor marry in the end, but she is murdered by Victors creation.

Robert Walton: Takes care of Victor when he is sick, and also listens to Victor's stories.

Henry Clerval: Victor's best friend, also takes care of Victor when he's sick.  Unlike Victor he seems to be more positive about life.

William Frankenstein: Victor's youngest brother.  Strangled in the woods by Victor's creation.

Justine Moritz: Adopted into Frankenstein family.  Even though Victor is well aware of who killed his youngest brother, William, the death is blamed on Justine.

Peasants: a.k.a De Lacey, son and daughters Felix and Agatha, and a woman named Safie.  The monster learns how to speak by watching these people interact with each other.  Monster tries to interact with this family but they hate him too.
